The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in accordance with article 9 of its constitution, has granted the Professionals Forum the status of a fully affiliated body to the NDC. General Secretary of the NDC Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah disclosed this at the 2022 Summit of the NDC Professionals Forum held at Ejisu in the Asante Region.
According to Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, the move is to find a lasting solution to the structural relationship challenges and that, the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC has approved subject to ratification of NEC, the proposals from the National Secretariat of the Party.
“Consequently, the Pro-forum henceforth is free to organize its structures as its own laws permit independent of the NDC structures. That, an annual subscription fee to be determined by the NEC shall be paid by PROFORUM in addition to any other voluntary contribution or donations PROFORUM may choose to offer in support of the party’s activities. Proforum shall be entitled to present a number of delegates equivalent to one International Chapter of the NDC to Annual Congress of NDC “; he revealed.
As the NDC gears up for election 2024 and beyond, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah tasked the NDC Professionals Forum to research and provide advocacy to guide fact-based decision making and formulation of policy with social democratic foundations.
The Pro-Forum should also support the party in grassroots mobilization, re-organization and strengthening the branches; train its own members in the Electoral processes of Ghana to put them in readiness for deployment at short notice to undertake critical assignments; mobilize resources for the party’s activities including campaigns and also Identify and groom talents and expertise for future roles in government. These according to him, are imperative if the NDC is to achieve its vision of re-capturing power in the next elections.
